With its proximity to Sweden and a slower pace than the city of Copenhagen, this is a perfect alternative for those who want to experience the Danish hospitable culture. Hop on the boat from Helsingborg, which then takes you easily across to Helsingör. The holiday ends in Malmö, a city that has lots of sights to offer. Itinerary
Helsingborg
Start by picking up your bikes at Travelshop at Helsingborg central station at bus gate 6. Here you also pick up your ferry tickets to Helsingør, when you've got your bikes do your own sightseeing tour and start discovering Helsingborg. Helsingborg is one of the oldest cities in the Nordics, and it shows both in the city and the position of the town. As the Öresund is the narrowest passage here to Denmark, the city has had a strategic position stretching back to the Viking Age. In the city center you can visit the defense tower Kärnan, which once belonged to a larger castle. If you want a challenge, go up all 323 steps and get a fantastic view of the city. Don't miss Sofiero castle with a 15-hectare park garden that has Northern Europe's largest collection of rhododendrons. Adjacent to the castle building is also a gourmet restaurant. In the heart of the city, you stay at Elite Mollberg, where you can rest before the journey continues to Denmark and Helsingör.
Helsingborg - Helsingör
Helsingborg – Helsingör: Rested and after eating a good breakfast, you cycle on to the port. The departures to Helsingör start at Helsingborg C and once there you take the Forsea boat over to Denmark. Pay a visit to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, located a stone's throw from the ferry in Humlebaek. The coastal location provides the perfect balance between landscape, architecture and art in a unique interplay that attracts visitors from all over the world. The museum contains more than 3,500 pieces of fantastic art. Helsingör is also known for the famous Kronborg castle where Shakespeare's "Hamlet" takes place. The castle is now a World Heritage Site since year 2000 so if you want to visit one of the world's top attractions - here's your chance! With the Forsea ticket you also get a discount on admission. In Helsingör, you sleep well at the cozy hotel Scandia.
Helsingör - Landskrona
After the short ferry ride from Helsingör in 20 minutes, you are back in Sweden again. The route to Landskrona runs along the sea where you will pass castles, fortresses, picturesque fishing villages, ancient ruins and towns such as Borstahusen, Glumslöv and Råå. One of Landskrona's most popular destinations is the Citadel. The citadel is one of the Nordic countries' best-preserved fortresses from the 16th century and Sweden's only preserved earthen rampart fortress. The castle was built in 1549 - 59 by the Danish king Christian III. It costs nothing to visit the area around the Citadel, but if you want to visit the castle itself on a guided tour, you must pay an entrance fee. If you want to eat well, you shouldn't miss Idas by the sea. A simple harbor tavern, perhaps when you see it for the first time. but a wonderful place. What to choose is difficult as everything on the menu tastes excellent. Once you arrive in Landskrona, you stay comfortably at hotel Öresund, where you can also take advantage of the hotel's new spa facility.
Landskrona - Lund
Lund is a thousand-year-old city filled with historical places and beautiful surroundings that you can enjoy during your visit. In connection with your cycling stop in Lund, you can for example go to Kulturen, the world's second oldest open-air museum, the Museum of Drawings, Lund Cathedral, and the city's Art Gallery. If you want to eat lunch, take the opportunity to try a Lundaknake, a sausage that can only be bought in Lund, or stop at one of the city's many cafes and restaurants. Take the opportunity and pay a visit to Lund's botanical garden. The botanical garden is a popular oasis in the middle of Lund and includes thousands of species from all corners of the world that are housed in the eight-hectare garden. In the Botanical Garden, there are also greenhouses with nine different sections with different climates and plants from all over the world. In Lund, you live centrally at the hotel elite Bishop arms.
Lund - Malmö
The last stage ends in Skanes capital, Malmö. Malmö is a city with a large selection of attractions and sights. When visiting Malmö, Malmö's landmark Turning torso is an absolute must-see. Turning Torso is essentially a 190-meter-high apartment complex, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatravas. What is so unique about the Turning torso is its outstanding 90-degree twist. Malmö is also called the city of parks, one of these parks is called Kungsparken and is like an oasis in the middle of Malmö. Eating well is done in cozy lillatorg (little square) with a large selection of different restaurants, bars & nightclubs. Especially nice in the summer when the outdoor seating starts. The bikes are returned to Travelshop in Malmö. walk along track 10 towards the bicycle garage, then down a flight of stairs and on the right, you will find Travelshop.
